Joan Medland

Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, I pursued a Clothing and Textiles degree at Manchester Polytechnic but soon transitioned to a career as a theatrical costumier, working for prestigious companies like The Royal National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company. After nearly 15 years in theatre, I retrained as an Occupational Therapist, qualifying in 2005. Since then, I have specialized in assessments and interventions for neurodiverse conditions, neurological developmental disorders, and mental health rehabilitation.
In 2012, I was invited by the Saudi Arabia Autistic Society to deliver seminars and training at a new school in Riyadh. Later, in 2014, I moved to the Cayman Islands to establish and develop an Occupational Therapy service for government-run primary schools. My career spans private, international, and NHS practices, where I have held roles as a clinician, supervisor, team manager, and clinical manager, with extensive experience in working with both children and adults.
