Child ADHD assessment Dublin

If you have been diagnosed with ADHD, then the first step is to get a proper assessment. You can ask your GP for an initial diagnosis, or visit a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Adult ADHD is a mental health condition that is associated with a range of clinical and psychosocial impairments. It is also linked to difficulty learning and concentrating. The severity of symptoms can vary for different individuals, so a proper diagnosis is critical.

The adult ADHD prevalence in Ireland is estimated to be 3%. However, the diagnostic process for adults can be complicated and difficult to access.

The National Clinical Programme for ADHD in Adults was launched in January 2021. This will help to expand coverage to 100% in the future. While it will take time to fully implement, a number of new services have been put in place

There are three new Adult ADHD Clinics that will be available to the general public by the end of the year. These clinics will provide a full assessment in Community Healthcare Organisations. They will accept referrals from Child Community Mental Health Teams and Adult Community Mental Health Teams.

The Adult ADHD Clinic at Merrion Gates Medical Centre offers a welcoming facility and is easy to locate. A consultation fee will be discussed with the client at the end of the appointment.

In addition to providing assessments and treatment, the Adult ADHD Clinic is a key part of the national Model of Care. This model outlines the processes in place, and explains how to refer to and receive treatment from services.
